Things That Made My Brain Go “What the F*!”
You’ve got The Manipulator — a woman who literally tells us she can sway emotions like she’s auditioning to be the next cult leader, except her “powers” are tragically useless against her stalker, a man who has main character unhinged energy radiating off him like pheromones. She begs him to leave her alone… but oh no, darling, that’s not how this man works. This man is The Shadow — a guy whose entire personality is “I watch you undress and I WILL be problematic about it.” He’s basically a walking red flag factory, and yet somehow? Ten out of ten, would let him ruin my life.
😵💫 THINGS THIS BOOK DID TO ME: Yell in to the void
Picture a morally grey menace who narrates like a poet but acts like a feral raccoon in love. Every chapter alternates between smoldering declarations of obsession and deeply inappropriate choices, and it’s delicious.
Plot-wise, yes, technically it exists — somewhere beneath a glorious tidal wave of tension, knife play, and scenes so steamy you’ll have to explain to your Kindle why it’s overheating. The pacing is less “slow burn” and more “dump a gallon of gasoline on it and toss a match.”
What my Braincell Has Spoken!
If you go in expecting a healthy relationship, you’re in the wrong aisle, sweetheart. But if you’re here for the thrill, the obsession, the stalking, the knife play, the morally grey everything — you’ll finish this book sweaty, confused, and muttering, “I have… concerns… but also where's the next book?”
